What animal is known for mass producing in places like the Tundra?Hint: There has been a huge myth that this animal likes to commit mass suicide.
Answer: The Lemmings have large families. They usually have litters of anywhere from 1-13 young. These amazing little animals are the food for the arctic foxes, jaegers, snowy owls and many other animals on the tundra. The Lemmings do not hibernate and they remain active in the arctic winter without freezing to death. They are not suicidal. This is a myth created by the crew that filmed a Disney Nature Documentary the White Wilderness in 1958. The crew induced the Lemmings to jump off a cliff into the sea, in order to document suicidal behavior!

What animal is a mollusk and has its feet attached to its head?Hint: They are smaller in warmer waters and bigger in colder waters.
Answer: The Octopus is a cephalopod and a mollusk. An Octopus has 8 arms which are attached to its head around the mouth. There are rows of suckers along the length of their arms. Strictly salt water creatures, they live in all the oceans. The largest Octopus in the world is the Giant Pacific Octopus which lives in the British Columbia waters. They can weigh up to 600 pounds which is the same weight as the Brown Bear!

What animal can emits a very foul smelling odor from glands at the base of its tail? Hint: Found throughout Europe they are called a "fitch"or a"foul mart".
Answer: The Polecat is mainly found in Wales but their population is spreading throughout Europe. A Polecat is not a cat, it is a type of European weasel. Polecats have been breeding with domestic ferrets that have become wild. They eat mice, rats and rabbits. When threatened or excited they release a strong four smelling secretion that will turn away some of their predators! Males are bigger and longer than the females. Polecats are nocturnal and are more of a solitary animal. |

What animal can expand its cheeks 3 times the size of its head?Hint: They are a rodent but they are also part of the squirrel family.
Answer: The Chimpmunk can store lots for food in those chubby checks. Found most anywhere throughout North America they can burrow in the ground, nest in trees or live in rocky cliffs. They have similar markings of a squirrel but they are much smaller. To survive the winter they store all of their food, nuts, berries and insects in their nesting place. Unlike bears they don't put on any fat or weight. Instead they snack throughout the winter months and sleep a lot.
