How About some Good Luck Black Cat Mythology

In Britain, having a black cat cross your path is thought to be a good omen.

 

In the south of France, black cats are referred to as matagots, magician cats that bring good fortune to owners who feed them well and treat them with the respect they deserve.

 

A strange black cat on your porch brings prosperity, according to Scottish legends.

 

In Egypt, it was once believed that the life-giving rays of the sun  were kept in a cat's eyes at night for safekeeping.

 

A cat sneezing is a good sign for everyone who hears it. - Italian superstition

 

In Britain, wives of fishermen believe that their husbands will return safely if a black cat is kept in the house.

 

In the theatre, a black cat in the audience on opening night means a successful play.

 

It is good luck if a bride sees a black cat on the way to the church for her wedding, according to an English tradition.

 

According to legend, King Charles I of England owned a black cat that he felt brought him luck. He had it guarded day and night. The day after the cat died, he was arrested.
