Never underestimate a Rottwieler's courage!

Bear, a Rottweiler, was on duty with her police officer Edward Ernstberger, when a prisoner escaped from the local prison.  The convict shot Edward, and without hesitation Bear immediately jumped out of the police cruiser and attacked the escapee.  Even though Bear was shot three times, once in the spine, and twice in the chest, she prevented Edward from being killed.  Because of Bear's bravery, both Edward and Bear survived the incident and continued police duty.  Eventually the two retired together.
